Here is a day-by-day description of the tour.
Ziua 1: Lisbon & Albufeira
The group meets the tour leader at Lisbon Airport at 5:00 PM before collecting the rental car and heading south towards the Algarve. The route leads through scenic countryside and traditional Portuguese villages, with the Atlantic coast drawing ever closer. Upon arrival in Albufeira, we check in and settle into our accommodation for the next few nights. Before dinner, there is time for a walk along the beach and the chance to enjoy the first sunset over the ocean. The evening concludes with local cuisine and a relaxed introduction to the journey ahead.
Ziua 2: The Algarve Coast & Faro
Today we explore some of the Algarve’s most spectacular coastal landscapes. Our route takes us to the famous Benagil Cave, known for its unique rock formations and sea-carved interior. We continue to Praia da Marinha, where golden cliffs, natural arches, and turquoise waters create one of Portugal’s most iconic views. A stop in the picturesque village of Carvoeiro offers a glimpse into traditional coastal life before we continue to Faro. The historic capital of the Algarve welcomes us with cobbled streets, medieval walls, and a charming old town overlooking the Ria Formosa lagoon.
Ziua 3: Albufeira & New Year's Eve
The final day of the year begins at an easy pace in Albufeira. Free time allows for exploring the old town, relaxing by the sea, or enjoying a coffee and a traditional pastel de nata. During the afternoon, we prepare for the evening's celebrations. As night falls, we join the famous Carpe Nox beach party, one of Portugal’s largest New Year’s Eve events. Live performances, DJs, and an extraordinary fireworks display over the Atlantic provide a memorable welcome to 2027.
Ziua 4: The Medieval Festival of Paderne
A relaxed start to the year is followed by a visit to the fortified village of Paderne. Every New Year’s Day, the village hosts a traditional medieval festival that recreates the atmosphere of centuries past. Knights, craftsmen, musicians, and costumed performers fill the streets, while local food and regional wines offer an authentic taste of Algarve traditions. In the evening, we return to Albufeira.
Ziua 5: Lagos, Sagres & Lisbon
After breakfast, we leave the Algarve behind and begin exploring its western coastline. Our first stop is Lagos, a historic maritime town known for its colourful streets, lively squares, and connections to Portugal’s great explorers. We then continue to Sagres and Cabo de São Vicente, the dramatic southwestern tip of mainland Europe. Towering cliffs and panoramic ocean views make this one of the country’s most impressive natural landmarks. Later, we drive north to Lisbon, where we spend the final night of the trip.
Day 6: Departure
Your trip has come to an end, and you are free to depart from Lisbon at any time. If you wish, you can spend some time exploring the city at your own pace or shopping for souvenirs before your departure.
