ITINERARY
Here is a day-by-day description of the places included in the tour.
Day 1 – Arrival in Bogotá
Arrival in Bogotá and meeting with the tour leader at the hotel in the evening. After check-in, we will have the rest of the evening free to explore the surrounding area and enjoy a relaxed welcome dinner together in Colombia's vibrant capital.
Day 2 – Historic Bogotá & Monserrate
Today we discover Bogotá's historic center on a guided walking tour through La Candelaria, the city's colonial heart. Colorful buildings, charming plazas, and centuries of history reveal the cultural soul of Colombia's capital. In the afternoon, we ascend Monserrate for spectacular panoramic views over the city and the surrounding Andes.
Day 3 – Gold Museum & Colombian Art
A day dedicated to Colombia's rich cultural heritage. We visit the famous Gold Museum, home to one of the world's most important collections of pre-Columbian artifacts, followed by the Botero Museum, showcasing the iconic works of Colombia's most celebrated artist. The remainder of the day is free for individual exploration.
Day 4 – Bogotá to the Coffee Region
Enjoy a relaxed morning in Bogotá before our flight to Colombia's renowned Coffee Region. Upon arrival in Salento, we settle into one of the country's most picturesque towns, known for its colorful architecture, flower-filled balconies, and laid-back atmosphere.
Day 5 – Cocora Valley & Wax Palms
A journey into one of Colombia's most breathtaking landscapes. Traveling by traditional Willys jeep, we reach Cocora Valley, home to the world's tallest wax palms. Surrounded by rolling green hills, cloud forests, and dramatic mountain scenery, this is one of the country's most iconic natural wonders.
Day 6 – Coffee Farm Experience & Medellín
This morning we immerse ourselves in Colombia's coffee culture with a visit to a traditional coffee farm. Learn about the production process from bean to cup and enjoy a tasting of freshly brewed local coffee. Later, we continue to Medellín, Colombia's innovative and vibrant "City of Eternal Spring."
Day 7 – Medellín City Tour
A guided exploration of Medellín reveals the city's remarkable transformation and dynamic character. Highlights include Plaza Botero and its collection of monumental sculptures, along with insights into the social and urban changes that have shaped modern Medellín. The afternoon is free to discover the city at your own pace.
Day 8 – Guatapé & El Peñol (Optional Excursion)
Today you may join an optional excursion to Guatapé, one of Colombia's most colorful destinations. Brightly painted houses, scenic lakes, and the impressive El Peñol Rock create an unforgettable setting. Those who climb to the summit are rewarded with spectacular views over the surrounding landscape.
Day 9 – Comuna 13 & Cartagena
An optional visit to Comuna 13 offers a glimpse into one of Medellín's most inspiring neighborhoods, known for its street art, outdoor escalators, and powerful story of transformation. Later, we fly to Cartagena, where the warm Caribbean atmosphere welcomes us upon arrival.
Day 10 – Discovering Cartagena
Today we explore Cartagena's UNESCO-listed historic center. Colonial architecture, vibrant plazas, colorful streets, and centuries-old fortifications showcase why this city is considered one of South America's greatest treasures. We also discover the creative and lively district of Getsemaní.
Day 11 – Rosario Islands Catamaran Cruise (Optional)
For those seeking a Caribbean escape, an optional catamaran cruise to the Rosario Islands offers crystal-clear waters, coral reefs, and white-sand beaches. Whether swimming, snorkeling, or simply relaxing by the sea, this is the perfect way to experience Colombia's Caribbean coast.
Day 11 – Departure from Cartagena
Your trip has come to an end, and you are free to depart from Cartagena at any time. Enjoy some free time to explore the city on your own, whether for shopping or visiting any last tourist attractions.

- Payments - The official currency in Colombia is the Colombian Peso (COP). You can pay with both cash and debit/credit cards (Visa and Mastercard are the most widely accepted). In big cities and tourist areas, cards are commonly used, but cash remains essential for local markets, small restaurants, or public transportation. ATMs are readily available in urban areas, but might be scarce in rural regions — so always carry some cash with you.
- Internet Access - For a reliable internet connection, getting a local SIM card is your best option. Claro, Movistar, and Tigo are the main providers, and SIM cards can be purchased at the airport or local stores. If your phone supports eSIM, that’s also a quick and convenient option. Internet coverage is generally good in cities, but may be weak in remote or mountainous regions, such as Tayrona National Park.
- Electricity - Colombia uses type A and B outlets, with a voltage of 110V and a frequency of 60Hz. You will need a travel adapter.
- Language - The official language is Spanish, spoken almost exclusively. In tourist areas, you’ll find people who understand basic English, but outside major cities this becomes rare. Learning a few key phrases in Spanish or using an offline translation app (like Google Translate) can be extremely helpful.
- Weather in February - February is an excellent month to visit Colombia. It's the dry season in many parts of the country, including the mountains (Bogotá), the coast (Cartagena, Santa Marta), and the central regions. Pack lightweight clothes for warmer regions and a jacket or hoodie for cooler nights in higher altitudes. Temperatures vary greatly by altitude: Bogotá: 10–20°C – cool and pleasant; Cartagena / Caribbean Coast: 24–32°C – hot and humid, perfect for the beach; Medellín: 18–28°C – spring-like weather year-round.
- Alcohol: The legal drinking age is 18. Alcohol is widely available in restaurants, bars, and stores. However, drinking in public places is prohibited and may result in a fine.
- Smoking: Allowed only in designated areas. It is banned in enclosed public spaces and near government buildings.
- Public Behavior: Colombians are warm and welcoming, but value respect for local customs. Avoid jokes about sensitive topics (e.g., the country’s past with cartels), and dress modestly when visiting religious sites.
