ITINERARY
Here is a day-by-day description of the tour:
Day 1 – Arrival in Lima
After arrival in Lima, meet your tour leader at the hotel in the afternoon. The rest of the day is free to relax or explore the surroundings at your own pace. It’s a good evening to rest, as an extraordinary journey awaits—filled with history, nature, and authentic experiences.
Day 2 – Lima, the gateway to Peru
The city tour takes us through all its facets: we discover Huaca Pucllana, a sanctuary built by a pre-Inca civilization hidden among the modern buildings of Miraflores. Then we step into the colonial center, where Plaza Mayor, the cathedral, and the San Francisco catacombs tell centuries-old stories. Toward the end, we breathe in the Pacific air in the districts of Miraflores and San Isidro, where parks, elegant buildings, and ocean views give the city a cosmopolitan flair.
Day 3 – Ballestas Islands and Huacachina Oasis
In the morning, we head south toward Paracas for a spectacular boat trip to the Ballestas Islands. Here, we admire colonies of sea lions, Humboldt penguins, and numerous marine birds. We continue on toward Ica, where we visit a local winery to discover the tradition of wine and the national drink, pisco, tasting their authentic flavors. In the afternoon, we arrive at the Huacachina oasis—a magical desert corner where towering dunes can be traversed by special vehicles and where we can try our balance at sandboarding. The sunset over the golden sands will remain one of the most beautiful memories of the journey.
Day 4 – The Nazca Lines
Today we reach one of the greatest archaeological mysteries in the world. From Nazca airport, we take a 30-minute flight over the legendary geoglyphs—gigantic figures depicting animals, plants, and geometric shapes, etched in the desert over a thousand years ago. Viewed from above, these symbols raise fascinating questions about their origins and meaning.
Day 5 – Cusco, the Inca capital
We fly to Cusco, the city that was the center of the Inca Empire. We stroll through its cobbled markets, discover the cathedral at Plaza de Armas, and ascend to the surrounding archaeological sites: Sacsayhuamán with its massive stone walls, Qenqo, Puca Pucara, and Tambomachay. Between Andean traditions and colonial heritage, Cusco is a living open-air museum.
Day 6 – The Sacred Valley of the Incas
Today we explore the Sacred Valley, a region full of picturesque villages, agricultural terraces, and spectacular fortresses. We stop at Awanacancha to see llamas and alpacas, then explore the colorful market at Pisac. After a lunch in Urubamba, we visit the impressive Ollantaytambo fortress, a true Inca stronghold. From here, we take the train to Aguas Calientes, the gateway to Machu Picchu.
Day 7 – Machu Picchu, the lost citadel
The much-anticipated day begins early with the ascent to Machu Picchu. We enter the famous citadel and discover its temples, terraces, and plazas that seem suspended between mountains and clouds. The guide helps us understand the role of this settlement in Inca civilization, as well as the mystery that surrounds it. The rest of the time is free to take in the unique panorama before descending back to Aguas Calientes and then continuing by train to Ollantaytambo, returning onward toward Cusco.
Day 8 – Cusco – Manu
We leave Cusco in the morning and embark on a multi-day adventure into Manu National Park, one of the richest biodiversity reserves in the world. Along the way, we pass through Andean villages and cloud forests, pausing to admire the cock-of-the-rock, Peru’s national bird. We reach the Amazonian region and let ourselves be enveloped by the sounds of the jungle.
Day 9 – The Amazon jungle
We wake early to watch the birdlife at the famous “clay licks,” where dozens of colorful parrots and other birds gather to consume the mineral-rich clay. The day continues with jungle trail walks and boat excursions on rivers and lagoons where we may spot caimans, monkeys, or giant otters. In the evening, we venture on a night tour to discover the creatures that emerge with the darkness.
Day 10 – Deep Amazon
We further explore the rainforest, visit Machuwasi Lagoon where we can ride a raft through lush vegetation and have the chance to observe new bird and animal species. Activities such as traditional fishing or a quick river swim add an authentic touch to the experience. The jungle’s atmosphere—with its rich scents and vibrant sounds—becomes an unforgettable memory.
Day 11 – Manu – Cusco
In the morning, we return by boat to the port of Atalaya, then continue by bus through mountains and Andean villages. We return to Cusco in the afternoon, carrying the memories of the jungle and the feeling that we’ve lived one of the most intense experiences of the journey.
Day 12 – Cusco – Lima
After breakfast, we transfer to the airport for the flight to Lima. The rest of the day remains free for exploring the city on your own, whether for shopping or visiting any last tourist attractions.
