TRAVEL ITINERARY
Here is a day-by-day description of the tour.
Day 1 - Arrival in Helsinki
Arrival in Helsinki and meeting with the guide at the hotel. We will have free time to relax and acclimatize to the northern atmosphere. Those who wish can take a stroll through the city center, where the streets adorned with lights create a fairytale ambiance. In the evening, we can enjoy a dinner at a local restaurant, where we can savor traditional Finnish dishes, such as smoked salmon or creamy salmon soup.
Day 2 - Helsinki
We begin the day with a guided walking tour of the Finnish capital. We explore Senate Square, dominated by the impressive Lutheran Cathedral, and stroll through Kauppatori Square, filled with stalls offering local delicacies and handcrafted souvenirs. We admire the modern architecture of the Oodi Library and visit the remarkable Temppeliaukio Church, carved directly into the rock. In the afternoon, there is free time for shopping or relaxing in a Scandinavian-style café. In the evening, we board the Santa Express, the train that will take us across the Arctic Circle to Rovaniemi, on a dreamlike journey through Finland's snowy landscapes.
Day 3 - Rovaniemi
We arrive in Rovaniemi in the morning, greeted by the fresh northern air and snow-covered landscapes. A full day awaits us! Those eager to explore can visit the Arktikum Museum, a fascinating place where we can learn about life in Lapland, Sami culture, and natural phenomena in the Arctic region. In the evening, we can opt for a traditional Lappish dinner, featuring local dishes - perhaps even reindeer meat?
Day 4 - Rovaniemi
In the morning, we visit the famous Santa Claus Village, where the magic of the holidays comes to life. We symbolically cross the Arctic Circle and send postcards with the official Santa Claus stamp from his post office. Additionally, we meet Santa Claus in person and explore the elf workshops, filled with toys and festive decorations. In the afternoon, there is free time to explore souvenir shops or take a walk through the snowy forest surrounding the village.
Day 5 - Rovaniemi: Reindeer Safari
A day filled with an authentic Arctic wilderness experience: a reindeer safari. We visit a traditional farm where we learn more about Sami culture and the lifestyle of reindeer herders. We take a short ride on a reindeer-drawn sled, just like the people of Lapland have done for centuries. In the afternoon, we will try ice fishing on a frozen lake, a traditional activity that allows us to experience the tranquility and beauty of the northern nature.
Day 6 - Rovaniemi: Aurora Ice Floating
An unforgettable experience awaits us this day as well: Aurora Ice Floating. Dressed in special thermal suits, we float in a frozen lake under the northern sky, waiting to witness the mesmerizing dance of the Northern Lights. A relaxing but spectacular activity that offers a unique way to admire the beauty of the Arctic nature. Those who wish for something else can instead choose a husky sled ride – speed and the feeling of freedom in the extreme conditions of the North!
Day 7 - Rovaniemi
The last day in Rovaniemi offers the opportunity to explore the city at your own pace. We can visit Snowman World, a theme park where everything is sculpted from snow and ice, from slides to bar furniture. Thrill-seekers can try snowshoeing through the forests of Lapland. In the evening, we board the night train that will take us back to Helsinki.
Day 8 - Helsinki
This day is dedicated to the Helsinki Christmas Market, one of the most beautiful in Northern Europe. Here, we can enjoy the smell of gingerbread and cinnamon, buy handcrafted souvenirs, and warm up with a glögi, the traditional Finnish mulled wine. In the afternoon, there is free time for exploration or a final shopping session.
Day 9 - Departure
Your journey comes to an end today. If you wish, you can spend some time exploring the city at your own pace or shopping for souvenirs, with the freedom to depart from Helsinki at any time.
