Additionally, we will discover fascinating aspects of personalities such as Fernando Botero and Gabriel García Márquez. Day 4: Bogotá - Pereira - Salento + Coffee Tour (optional)
We board a flight to Pereira, and upon arrival, we will be transferred to the picturesque town of Salento. After check-in, we will have free time to rest or enjoy the optional "Coffee Tour," where we will uncover the secrets of this delicious hot beverage.

Day 5: Salento - Cocora Valley - Salento
We venture into the famous Cocora Valley with Willys Jeeps. This magical area, with its cloud forests and wax palms – the tallest in the world – offers a unique hiking experience. We will choose the right route for each, whether on foot, by bike, or on horseback.

Day 6: Salento - Pereira - Medellín
We say goodbye to the coffee region and head to Medellín, a 3-hour bus ride. After check-in, we will spend the afternoon exploring Centro, the oldest part of the city, known for its markets, museums, and fascinating architecture.

Day 7: Medellín or Guatapé (optional excursion)
A free day for those who want a break or, on the other hand, a day dedicated to an optional excursion to Guatapé – the village that seems painted with watercolors. Famous for the giant El Peñol rock, which offers one of the most spectacular panoramas in Colombia, and for the facades of houses decorated with reliefs, each with its own story – from rural scenes to local symbols. A walk here is like stepping into a living painting, where every corner is Instagram-worthy without effort.

Day 8: Medellín - Cartagena
We will spend the morning exploring Medellín, then head to the airport for a flight to Cartagena. Once there, we will have free time for rest and to acclimate to the tropical climate of this Caribbean coastal city.

Day 9: Cartagena
We will explore the historic city step by step, among colonial buildings in sun-kissed colors and cobblestone streets that tell stories. We will also venture into Getsemaní – Cartagena's bohemian neighborhood, where the walls are covered with colorful street art, music echoes from every corner, and the energy of the locals makes you feel part of the scenery.

Day 10: Cartagena or Rosario Islands Catamaran Tour (optional excursion)
Free time to relax, explore Cartagena at your own pace, or take part in an optional excursion where we can enjoy the idyllic beaches and crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean. It will be a day at sea, sailing to a tropical archipelago, with breaks for snorkeling, beach time, and splashing in the clear waters. All accompanied by great music, on a spacious catamaran, with an open bar and a holiday vibe.

  • Payments - The official currency in Colombia is the Colombian Peso (COP). You can pay with both cash and debit/credit cards (Visa and Mastercard are the most widely accepted). In big cities and tourist areas, cards are commonly used, but cash remains essential for local markets, small restaurants, or public transportation. ATMs are readily available in urban areas, but might be scarce in rural regions — so always carry some cash with you.
  • Internet Access - For a reliable internet connection, getting a local SIM card is your best option. Claro, Movistar, and Tigo are the main providers, and SIM cards can be purchased at the airport or local stores. If your phone supports eSIM, that’s also a quick and convenient option. Internet coverage is generally good in cities, but may be weak in remote or mountainous regions, such as Tayrona National Park.
  • Electricity - Colombia uses type A and B outlets, with a voltage of 110V and a frequency of 60Hz. You will need a travel adapter.
  • Language - The official language is Spanish, spoken almost exclusively. In tourist areas, you’ll find people who understand basic English, but outside major cities this becomes rare. Learning a few key phrases in Spanish or using an offline translation app (like Google Translate) can be extremely helpful.
  • Weather in February - February is an excellent month to visit Colombia. It's the dry season in many parts of the country, including the mountains (Bogotá), the coast (Cartagena, Santa Marta), and the central regions. Pack lightweight clothes for warmer regions and a jacket or hoodie for cooler nights in higher altitudes. Temperatures vary greatly by altitude: Bogotá: 10–20°C – cool and pleasant; Cartagena / Caribbean Coast: 24–32°C – hot and humid, perfect for the beach; Medellín: 18–28°C – spring-like weather year-round.
Important Laws and Local Etiquette
  • Alcohol: The legal drinking age is 18. Alcohol is widely available in restaurants, bars, and stores. However, drinking in public places is prohibited and may result in a fine.
  • Smoking: Allowed only in designated areas. It is banned in enclosed public spaces and near government buildings.
  • Public Behavior: Colombians are warm and welcoming, but value respect for local customs. Avoid jokes about sensitive topics (e.g., the country’s past with cartels), and dress modestly when visiting religious sites.
